About MCS

MCS is a mark of quality and demonstrates
compliance to industry standards that companies
strive to meet. It highlights to consumers that
companies are able to consistently install or
manufacture to the highest quality every time.

MCS has been receiving an increasing number of reports from consumers claiming to have been contacted by companies – cold calling and offering free health checks on their Solar PV installations in conjunction with MCS. MCS is aware that the brand is being misrepresented by individuals and companies claiming to either be working for, or with, the MCS carrying out these checks.

The MCS Installation Database (MID) will be undergoing planned maintenance on Thursday 4th August from 12.30pm to 1.00pm. The MID will not be accessible during this period.

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme published a six week consultation on extending the scope of MCS 014, MCS 015, MIS 3007 and MIS 3007-2 to cover add-on units on Monday 1st August 2016.

Following the consultation on the proposed closure of the Northern Ireland Renewables Obligation (NIRO) to new small scale onshore wind, the NIRO has now closed to onshore wind operators with a capacity of 5MW and under in Northern Ireland.

MCS has been made aware of several companies that are offering Solar PV/Thermal upgrades and maintenance in partnership with MCS.

We would like to confirm that MCS has not partnered with any installation or maintenance companies.

MCS has published the June 2016 edition of the newsletter.

Certification bodies accredited for the scheme have been advised to ensure they contact BRE and follow the transfer process in place to ensure conformity to regulatory standards. Please note BRE are still continuing to certifying products under the scheme.
