About MCS

MCS is a mark of quality and demonstrates
compliance to industry standards that companies
strive to meet. It highlights to consumers that
companies are able to consistently install or
manufacture to the highest quality every time.

Following enquiries regarding compliance with the aspect of the MCS Wind Turbine product standard that requires publication of performance data, we are pleased to announce that the Certification Bodies have investigated the matter and are now able to confirm full compliance with this requirement.

The manufacturers for small wind turbines are required to submit, for review and certification, a number of test reports including; a Summary Report, containing a power curve, an AEP curve, the Noise Label, and the measured sound pressure levels. This report, once approved by an accredited certifying body, is to be made publicly available.

The acceptance criteria for testing evidence supplied by the applicants for product certification under MCS sets out several methods of product testing, including tests carried out in third party laboratories. Independent tests being conducted and their results being published in a readable format provides transparency and is the key to consumer confidence in renewable technologies and is aimed at helping consumers to make informed decisions.

In addition, the manufacturer shall also make available the BWEA Reference Annual Energy (BWEA RAE), the BWEA Reference Power (if a rated power is specified), and the Noise Label in any product literature or advertising in which product specifications are provided.
