About MCS

MCS is a mark of quality and demonstrates
compliance to industry standards that companies
strive to meet. It highlights to consumers that
companies are able to consistently install or
manufacture to the highest quality every time.

The consultation on the competence criteria project being undertaken by MCS has now been launched. To access the consultation documents and respond, please follow the link below to get to the consultation documents. A video is also included which provides a background to the project and a quick summary of what the consultation is all about.

Thank you to everyone who has responded so far to the MCS Technical Competence Consultation. We have received an overwhelming amount of interest since the announcement, but we have noted that some people have requested more time to formalise their responses. In light of this, the steering group have agreed to revise the closing date to 5pm on 23rd July 2012.

Further to the update on 9th January 2012 where MCS had become aware of a failure with regards to Evoco Energy 10kW wind turbine, we are pleased to confirm that the issue has been rectified and the Evoco Energy 10kW wind turbine is compliant with the MCS product certification scheme requirements for small wind turbines.

MCS has released guidelines for anyone wishing to submit a complaint regarding the scheme or MCS installer companies and products. To view the complaint guidelines please visit the Consumer section of  www.microgenerationcertification.org.

The MCS Biomass installer and product standards have been updated. The latest versions can be viewed by visiting the MCS website, and visiting the MCS Standards section on www.microgenerationcertification.org. A supporting document is also available entitled ‘Important Information’ which outlines the implementation timelines and a summary of the key changes.

Following enquiries regarding compliance with the aspect of the MCS Wind Turbine product standard that requires publication of performance data, we are pleased to announce that the Certification Bodies have investigated the matter and are now able to confirm full compliance with this requirement.

The recent MCS criteria consultation closed on Monday 23rd July, we are now reading through each of the responses and listening to the feedback we have received through the process. In September we will announce the next steps and any plans in relation to the project.
