The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will be running a free event in Sheffield for Solar PV installers. The event is aimed at installers who carryout work on commercial properties such as schools, farms, factories or may consider doing so in the future. The event will aim to provide key health and safety information to help avoid the recent rise in accidents involved in this type of work.

Due to information received through routine regulatory channels last week, MCS is of the opinion that it has to consider the notification to the European Commission of MCS 012. As such, the MCS Standards Management Group (SMG) has decided that until it is fully understood whether notification is required, a very regrettable pause is required in the implementation to ensure that MCS continues to meet its obligations.

On 13 June 2014 the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 came into force. These regulations make significant changes to the consumer protection legislation governing businesses that agree contracts with domestic consumers in the home. The regulations will replace the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 and the Cancellation of Contracts made in a Consumer's Home or Place of Work (Doorstep Selling) Regulations 2008. They implement the EU Consumer Rights Directive (CRD) adopted in 2011.
