About MCS

MCS is a mark of quality and demonstrates
compliance to industry standards that companies
strive to meet. It highlights to consumers that
companies are able to consistently install or
manufacture to the highest quality every time.

MCS is pleased to confirm our attendance at Ecobuild 2014, a world leading event for sustainable design, construction, energy and the build environment.

We will be hosting presentations regarding the updated standards and competency criteria, as well as those focussed on the upcoming domestic RHI scheme. Please see below for the full agenda.

The £500,000 fund aimed at expanding the skill set of domestic heating engineers to include the installation and maintenance of renewable heating systems has today been extended by an additional £150,000 by Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker during a visit to Grant Engineering UK in Devizes, Wiltshire.

The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is due to open in spring. At launch, people will be able to get full information and apply to join the scheme from the Ofgem website. To provide some basic information in advance, Ofgem has published a Domestic RHI web holding page with five factsheets that can be downloaded. They’re simply tasters, more comprehensive guides will be available for scheme opening

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme is constantly seeking to improve the way that the scheme operates. As a company holding MCS Certification for installation services or products we value your feedback. The following survey, being run by Gemserv Ltd (MCS Administrator), is an opportunity for you to have your say and to help us identify key areas for improvement.

The survey can be found here.

DECC has recently published a preliminary report on the Renewable Heat Premium Payment metering programme. This report is the first publication containing data from the Renewable Heat Premium Payment heat pump metering programme.

More than 700 sets of high-frequency, high-resolution metering equipment have been installed on heat pumps in people's homes. By comparison with the EST's heat pump field trial, the results are encouraging.

To download and read the full report, please visit DECC's website

World Plumbing Day is celebrated across the world on the 11th March every year. The event, which was initiated by the World Plumbing Council (WPC), celebrates the important role plumbing plays in the health and safety of modern society.

As previously announced MCS released updates to all heat technology installation standards on 16th December 2013. All installers must comply with the revised standards by 16th March 2014. Please be aware that the updates are significant and you must take action to ensure you are ready to implement the updates by 16th March 2014. Therefore please make sure that you have reviewed the revised standards and that you have updated your processes accordingly. A summary of the changes can be found here.

On 21st October 2013, MCS announced that it would be developing a process for customers who do not have an MCS certificate for reasons such as their installer is no longer trading or MCS certified. We are continuing to work on this process and further details will be published on the MCS website News and Events page once available.

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is pleased to announce two key new initiatives designed to help installers get involved with the Scheme, and take advantage of the opportunities offered by the forthcoming domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). This work is the culmination of a number of consultations which we received feedback on from industry and legislative bodies.
