About MCS Charitable Foundation

The newly established and independent grant making MCS Charitable Foundation was created by the government as part of changes in the ownership of MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme Service Company Limited).

Their vision is a world where everyone has access to affordable and reliable renewable energy and low carbon technologies – for the benefit of our environment, our communities and the UK public.

MCS was originally set up by the UK Government in 2008 and has now been made independent in line with the government strategy of enabling the renewables market to be sustainable long-term. The scheme has played an important part in the growth of the installation of renewables in homes and small businesses in the UK. It is a mark of quality and demonstrates compliance to industry standards.

MCS Charitable Foundation is the sole shareholder of MCS and will receive a percentage of the annual profits, which it will award in line with its charitable objectives.

Our aim is to protect and conserve the environment, by increasing confidence and awareness amongst the UK public of the value of renewables and low carbon technology.
