It has been just over a month since the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) became fully independent of government through novation and we are already making progress in a number of key areas.
The MCS transferred to the MCS Service Company Limited and the MCS Charitable Foundation on April 25 2018. Both held their first Board meetings in May.
We are currently recruiting for our first Chief Executive Officer to lead and inspire us to further success. The closing date for applicants is 25 June and we hope to have someone in place by the autumn. Further details of how to apply are here
We have ambitious plans for the development of the Stakeholder Advisory Group (SAG) which advises the Company on the running of the MCS and replaces the pre-novation Steering Group. The inaugural meeting of the SAG will take place on Thursday June 28. This will be an opportunity for us to update attendees on our vision of the future and share ideas of how we can work together to make that happen.
Following a review of our approach to compliance and enforcement, MCS has appointed a new full-time Compliance and Enforcement Manager, Ben Howe, who started on May 21. This move reinforces our desire to protect consumers through the effective and rigorous enforcement of high standards and to build their confidence in microgeneration technologies.
We have been working with Gemserv to review our data management and ensure that we are fully compliant with new EC data protection legislation (GDPR). We are also reviewing our delivery costs on several fronts, including our working group structure and helpdesk services, to ensure optimum efficiency.
We have issued a tender for a new database provider for MCS to ensure that we are fit for the technological challenges ahead. We are confident that this investment will enable us to deliver a database to meet our future needs, bringing us improved functionality, flexibility and cost-effectiveness.
We would very much welcome your thoughts and feedback as we embark on this exciting stage of the evolution of the scheme.
We are very grateful for all your support so far and look forward to working with you more closely in the next few months.
