MCS Standards

MCS Technical Working Groups develop the MCS standards, which are predominantly based on international and European standards already in existence.

Micro-Combined Heat and Power Systems (Micro CHP)

Micro Combined Heat & Power (Micro CHP) is the simultaneous production of heat and electricity. Effectively the Micro-CHP unit replaces the gas central heating boiler and provides heat and hot water as usual, but additionally can provide a home’s electricity needs.

Below are the standards required to be met to be able to install Micro CHP under the MCS scheme. Approved guidance and reference materials to be used with the standards can also be found below.
